International audienceThe cremation burial ground of « Mahis » at Gy-en-Sologne (department of the Loir-et-Cher, France) was discovered during the construction of the A85 motorway. This unusual discovery, at the junction of three territories (those of the Carnuti, the Bituriges and the Turoni), has renewed our knowledge of the funerary rites practised during the early roman empire in an otherwise poorly documented area. The funerary use of the site was represented by a cremation zone or ustrinum, of which three sides are defined by stone walls. It was used and abandoned during the first half of the 1st century A.D.
